Our facilities are primarily set up to produce screen-prints, but even within this particular discipline, there are a wide variety of techniques that can be explored and indeed combined. We strive to help artists realise their printmaking ambitions.

Screens

We have a range of screen sizes and mesh counts to accommodate a variety of needs from highly intricate and detailed images to areas of strong colour saturation. We coat our screens with a light sensitive emulsion ready for exposure.

UV exposure unit

We use a UV vacuum exposure unit to photographically transfer artwork onto the light sensitised screen. Whatever stops the UV light hitting the screen will ultimately print whether it’s a drawn line, a brush mark or flat object.

Back Lit Washout Booth

Once the artwork has been exposed onto the screen, our back-lit washout booth allows us to accurately see the exposed image.

Printing

The screen is fixed accurately to the vacuum screen bed. The vacuum sucks the printing paper down allowing for precise registration and crystal sharp image.

Inks

We are a water-based studio using acrylic paint which we mix with a medium turning it into screen-printing ink. We can make our inks as transparent as required by adjusting the ratio of medium to acrylic.

Paper

There is a vast range of paper types available from quality acid free cartridge to 100% cotton rag printing papers. We are happy to order in specific papers depending on the needs of a particular project.

As part of the collaborative nature of the process, our facilities allow for artists to make and develop their ideas within the studio. We have a light box but artists may wish to generate their work within their own studio and then bring it to the workshop for printing.

Throughout the process we will be happy to advise, assist and help in any way we can. It is important to remember it is a dialogue between artist and technician and the more we discuss your ideas, the better the result will be!
